Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – A team of lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) conducted a survey at the Limo Waste Processing Unit (UPS) in Depok City, West Java, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Budhi Martana and his team carried out the site survey as part of the implementation of a collaboration between FT UPNVJ and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) regarding waste management involving active participation from local residents.
During the survey, the FT UPNVJ team engaged in discussions with the Depok City Sanitation and Parks Department, which is responsible for managing the Limo UPS.
The discussion covered various technical and operational aspects of waste management, including existing processing methods, challenges faced, and potential collaborations to improve the effectiveness of waste management in the area.
“We interacted with the local community because they will be directly involved in waste management,” said Budhi Martana in a press release.
Community participation is a key element in this collaboration program, as the sustainability of the waste management system greatly depends on the awareness and active involvement of the surrounding community.
“The collaboration between FT UPNVJ and TIKA is expected to provide innovative solutions in waste management, both through technological approaches and community empowerment. Through this survey, FT UPNVJ gains a clearer understanding of field conditions, enabling us to design effective and sustainable programs,” Budhi added.
This site survey marks the beginning of a series of upcoming collaboration activities. Moving forward, FT UPNVJ and TIKA will continue coordinating with relevant parties to realize a more effective and environmentally friendly waste management program at Limo UPS.
